Merry Christmas

Thursday, December 27th, 2007

A belated Merry Christmas to family and friends. Amber, Colin, and I are staying warm in snowy Colorado. We have had a blessed Christmas and have enjoyed spending time with Nanna, Papa, and Auntie Amy. Our journey here was, for the most part, uneventful. We did stay the night in Amarillo due to road conditions. If you ever have to travel through or to New Mexico they have a website devoted to state road conditions. I will link to several sites at the bottom of this post.

We bypassed a big pile up on our way into Amarillo on I40. It happened about two hours before we arrived and luckily we were able to get off of the interstate and avoided getting stuck in traffic. East bound I40 was closed for a good portion of the day and West bound was shut down for several hours. According to the Amarillo paper ~80 vehicles were involved in the pile up. We stayed the night at a Holiday Inn and spent part of the night shopping. The west side of Amarillo has seen a lot development and there are quite a few nice stores. In fact, in the future if my parents are still in Colorado we will probably plan on splitting the trip up by staying the night in Amarillo. Amber was enamoured with the Cost Plus World Market. ;-) Hopefully, I will have some pictures to put up later this week.

Oklahoma Weather Brings April Fools

Sunday, April 2nd, 2006

I lost two posts to the stormy weather last night. Our power went off and on numerous times as the storms swept through Oklahoma. The first post I have no recollection of. It must not have been too important. The second post was going to be a humorous poke at the reality entertainment TV show that extreme weather reporting has turned into. Kind of a “Tornadoes, Gustnadoes, Hail. Oh, My!!” type of post. Well, I guess I can use it as an excuse to buy a UPS or maybe it is a sign that I shouldn’t be on the computer in the middle of a storm.

Switching topics, Amber and I got caught by the April Fools Daylight Savings Time spring forward. After the power went out for the last time we reset our bedroom clock by Amber’s watch without a second thought. When we got up this morning I went into the office, turned on the computer and noticed that it was an hour later than what I thought it was. Sure enough the cable box said the same thing. Doh!
