Sawyer celebrating the New Year.

IMG_4588

I took my loves on a lunch date before school started back to our fave lunching spot, McAllister’s.

IMG_4591

Even Sawyer enjoys McAllister’s! I ate here nearly twice a week during my pregnancy. I craved the Spud Ole and the Grilled Chicken Breast sammie!

IMG_4594

Sportin’ his hoody I bought him for Christmas. It never got wrapped because I hid it a little too good in the closet Smile

IMG_4602

His cute penguin socks.

IMG_4626

I bought an air popper and FINALLY used it. Never going back to microwave popcorn again!

IMG_4479

Had coffee with this lovely kindred spirit. Met her at a park over 2 years ago and discovered we lived in the same neighborhood. It really is a small world!

IMG_4656

She moved away but now I have a pen pal!

IMG_4671

Smiling before bed time. This boy’s middle name should be “smiley”.

Dear Sawyer: Don’t ever stop smiling sweet boy! Love, Mama

IMG_4685

Taking down the calendar Colin made me from 1st grade. It has hung on my frig for an entire year. I treasure all the little things my kids make me.

What is going on your world lately?

2013: meditation

Instead of making resolutions, I usually pick a word for the year. It’s worked really well for me in the past. Doing so has helped me be more intentional. However this year a theme kept reoccurring: Psalm 46:10.

“Be still, and know that I am God.”

So those are my “words” for the year or more like my meditation.

I don’t know where it’ll take me but I only hope and pray that it will take me to a deeper, more meaningful relationship with my Heavenly Father.

1st Christmas

December 25, 2012

This year was Sawyer’s 1st Christmas. 3 months old.

This year was our 1st Christmas as a family of five.

It was precious and beautiful and crazy.

I loved every minute of it.

I feel beyond blessed!

Praise be to God!

Recap: Thanksgiving 2012

Since I have trouble setting aside time to blog and journal I feel there will be a lot of recaps in the future Smile Without further ado…our Thanksgiving recap!

We headed to Texas to spend Thanksgiving with Stephen’s family. This was Sawyer’s first car trip out of state. It took us NINE hours to get there when it usually takes only six. It was a long day, but we persevered and the kids really did great.

It was his first time to meet his Nana & Papaw and his Auntie Amy.

2 months

My Sweet Sawyer,

Today you are 2 months old! You attended church for the 2nd time today. We spent half of our time in the nursing room but we had company. Little Cora and Caleb. As a matter of fact we will be having a playdate with your new friends this week! They are coming over to “play” so us mommies can visit!

The last month we have slowly adjusted to a life of five in our home. You have brought so much joy to our family I couldn’t imagine life without you now! You are such a smiley boy. Your first smile was September 28 when I was holding you in my room. We were sitting in the rocking chair and you gave me the biggest grin. Ear to ear. I was lucky enough to capture it on camera!

IMG_3497

You love to smile and watch your bear mobile when I put you in your bed. You are starting to coo and “talk” to mommy and daddy. We love listening to you.

Sawyer you are so cuddly. I hope you don’t outgrow snuggling with me anytime soon. You are also such a good baby. Just relaxed and chill. You only get upset when you’re hungry or have a dirty diaper.

You are a growing boy and I can’t wait to take you to your two month appointment and find out how much you’ve grown. You are still in 0-3 month pants but we are putting you in 3 month/3-6 month onsies.

On Sunday November 11, you will be dedicated to the Lord at church. This means that daddy and I will commit to teaching you about God and the Love of Jesus. I’ve started reading The Jesus Storybook Bible to you. I hope you grow to love the Lord and learning about Him by reading the Bible.

pumpkin patch : 2012

You can check out last year HERE!

We took our yearly road trip to the pumpkin patch during Fall Break. It was really important to me to do this again this year. If nothing else I needed those “How tall this fall?” pictures. I needed some tradition to restore the balance of our new family dynamics. I knew there would be a lot of activities I would be editing out this month for my own peace of mind but this one had to stay. So my mom and I loaded up and drove the kids to the patch on the windiest day of the year (ok so that’s a tad bit of an exaggeration but still). My mom hung out in the car with Sawyer while I took the big kids for some good old-fashioned fun.

First stop: pictures with pumpkins.
