To Run or Not to Run
In an earlier post (sept 1) I shared with you all about wanting to run a 5K, namely Race for the Cure because it holds a special spot with me. My training has been going great! Nearly seamless until I came down with a nasty bug about a week ago that left me staying in doors for about 4 days. This really threw a wrench in my training since I didn’t give myself much wiggle room when I started. (good timing/ bad timing? who knows but it was motivation enough)
Well last Friday evening, I was playing with Kate on the floor and got on my knees to put her books back on the shelf. As I was standing up I did something to my right knee. I ended up doing RICE (rest, ice, compress, elevate) the rest of the evening while watching Monk and Psych. It’s still not 100% which means I’m nearly 1/2 a week’s worth of training behind and RFTC is a week from Saturday. I’m not giving up my dream of running 3.2 miles (when I write it, it almost sounds silly) but the reality is that I might not be running a 5K in less than 2 weeks. This makes me sad because I’ve told so many people about my dream of running and part of me wishes that I would have kept this to myself because then the only person I have to answer to is myself. At least I’ve learned one lesson. So I’m putting this out there so maybe if your reading this you can say a little prayer for my knee.
me, after running 2 miles for the first time EVER and in the rain!
